My friends, it is with a heavy heart that I must announce the passing of our dear friend Tiago Antonio Garzuze dos Santos Hecke, whom most of you knew as Atechan.
He passed away on June 13, 2024 at a dirty bus stop in Guaratuba. The cause of death is still unknown to us, but it is quite likely that he overdosed after stabbing himself in the jugular with a dirty needle full of methadone.
His final words, relayed to us on IRC, which he was using right up until his final moments (though we did not realize this at the time), were the following:

He would part from IRC for the final time a few hours later as his phone ran out of battery.
He died doing what he loved most - doing drugs out in the streets in the middle of the night whilst harassing strangers. The rest of us can only dream of such a fitting death.

While looking over my #jp logs I found this wonderful quote from when he went missing in 2021:
<Anonymous> what is atechan? a brazilian body? is that him, the man in curitiba? or is he the posts, the spam, the fruits of his will? the flesh is gone, the idea remains within Us indefinitely.
I think that's a fitting one to honor his legacy.
